water line

if you have a garden that is big and long but thin the type of irrigation that you need is a water line. these following steps will show you how to make a water line.

  you will need:

  •  13 mm pipe as long as your garden and longer, if you garden is long AND wide you should use 20 to 25 mm pipe (to find why scroll down).
  • two concrete or wooden posts, if you use wooden you will need stay(to find out what stays are go to the fencing page)
  • one permanent fencing strainer. (to find out what strainers are go to the fencing page)
  • high tensile wire as long as your garden and more
  • 1 barbed end plug, 1 ratchet clips and a hose end

looks like these;

you will need these tools as well;

  • fencing pliers
  • post rammer
  • spinning jenny
  • shovel
  • wire twister
  • fencing strainer tightener

and now we can start!

Step one

at one end of your garden (length end) dig a hole that is about 700mm deep and the width should be 350mm and the post hole has to be straight down. if you put the post in and it is sticking out of the hole more than a meter and 100mm then the post hole will need to be dug more so that the post is sticking out of the hole at least one meter and 100mm.

once you've dug the post hole put your post in it, if you are using a concrete post, the post should be about two meters long, same goes for a wooden post.
